Dreams of the Circumpolar North
I have a passion for the 60th Latitude. It hasn’t always been this way. Growing up here all I wanted to do was go somewhere else. Find sun, sand, dreams of surf… Then one year it changed. I was in my 20s, watching the water move in the inlet and I realized there was nowhere else I would rather be. I like the cold, gray starkness of it all. I’m built for this place and here to be an observer of it. The way the light shifts and changes shape, the places that make you feel like you are at the edge of the world, and the cold winter hues that are more subtle and beautiful than the brightness never-ending light of summer. There is something fascinating about the circumpolar north and the creativity and ingenuity that comes out of it.
